I remember Tent Weekend when it was a big affair. Dozens of tents, tons of liquor, a few bands, people selling shirts to raise money in your face all the time. A girlfriend's roomie and boyfriend trying to figure out when would be the best time to have sex in the tent, people estimating how much liquor to get for the bands, and a huge messy fun time.
I remember FAP when it was a big affair. Name bands like Moe, a huge food event, tons of different huge activities. A large festive beer garden, tons of carnival-style events, plenty of fun. Some people I met at drewuniversity first remember me as the big intimidating bouncer guy at the center in front of the stage at the big final concert for FAP one year. Like runstaverun, who mentioned it earlier today. There was some insane drooling guy who kept on yelling for them to play, ``Raboobsula'' or some shit. And no, I'm not going to let people blame it on the rain. I can see your lips out of synch. Besides, FAP 25 was indoors. We had a huge beer garden in The Pub, see pictures here, just scroll a bit down. The main FAP itself was held in the gym. It couldn't fit in no little University Center. It took up the fucking gym. Because it was big. Maybe it's the lack of Katrina and Brian. Maybe times have changed, and the budget's really damn tight. But I remember when FAP was big.
But then again, I remember when there was Hoyt every week, when there NOT being Hoyt on a Thursday in The Triple was an exception.. not the rule. So I'm old, and mrfantasy's right, you feel less like a student every year.
So today, at country western FAP, kikibird rode a mechanical bull while hiphopatcong, runstaverun, and I watched. She lasted longer than all the guys before and after her that I saw. We had an entertaining comedy of errors trying to find her and then her boytoy at the train station before that, and we all got caught in a downpour that almost knocked one of my contacts out.
Then hiphopatcong had to decide whether we spent the evening with them or Helen and Shaun/Sean/Shawn/etc. As he put it, ``I had to decide between my two favorite couples. But I chose kikibird and runstaverun last time, and Helen and Puffy Combs are already cooking for us.'' So we parted ways, I said goodbye to my Helen and Guyver, and they went off to enjoy the senior art show in the DoYo. We went up to the boonies of Sussex, had some amazing dinner, played video games, watched TV, and I left for an undisclosed location. More coming later.
Call me Lord Minty, but I want the Hellraiser statue.
