So last summer I was selected for jury duty, showed up, and was told that they never got a needed form. I gamble with their confusing letter, and find out that I was wrong. So I had to go in today, and had completely forgotten about this until this weekend. It was on the calendar in GroupWise, the calendar behind the helpdesk, and on a piece of paper next to my home computer. Whoops.
So the angry letter I got told me to show up if any jurors are needed, so I call and plan on making it down there. Email blackbytes, email my professors, take care of everything. redvector pointed out to me at a party on Saturday that I took the completely wrong PATH stop to get there last time, and we agreed to meet up for lunch. I finished my homework, got to bed, woke up before dawn, and made it to the courthouse with plenty of time to spare despite dawdling and getting a crazy Korean aloe drink.
Yet again, they didn't need me and I get screwed - but thought they might need me on Thursday. Wednesday night I find out. Jeezus fuck, I just want to get this over with at this point. Romanticized visions of 12 Angry Men be damned.
That's ok. With the power of love and the support of my friends, I will carry on.
One great thing today is the stuff I picked up at Quick Chek on my way in. Got a delicious pork roll, tall cup of Kona coffee, and a sloppy meatball sub for Algorithms today.
When celebrating petemagyar's birthday on Superbowl Sunday, jenniever and I drove with him to meet his family at Bahr's Landing in Atlantic Highlands. Pointed out the Leonardo exit for jenniever like a true Kevin Smith fanboy, and nearly wept at the sight of a Wawa and Quick Chek across the street from each other - true central Jersey. I'd seen Bahr's during a million trips to Sandy Hook, but never stopped there before. Wonderful seafood, great time with his family, and (thanks to it being a clear day) amazing views of the city off in the distance that I remember Sandy Hook so well for.
