In the olden days, you could flame people with impunity. It was possible to be almost completely anonymous, and no one really knew who you were unless you had made a name for yourself. While this was easier, as there were less people "around", you could still attack people's personal thoughts or feelings without them being able to counterattack as easily. With blogs and social networking sites, things are different. They'll Google up your name, find sad things that they'll use to illustrate your stupidity. You'll mock someone, and they'll be able to respond with sad photos of you at your worst out of what you've shared with the world. And nothing delights me more than seeing someone go off on someone else, only for them to respond with a photo or quote from the original attacker that puts them in their place with their own shortcomings.
