Mountain Dew Monday

Happy happy love love, sleep sleep sleep.
Happy happy love love, sleep sleep sleep.

There's a ton of bands that I'd rush out and buy CD's for if I had serious disposable income. From mainstream classic acts like U2 that I've always meant to get more of to random bands like Snog that some MOOer shot me a few MP3s from. I know I could have MOOers or my sweetheart burn me a CD, but for some reason I'm just not behind pirating music. Mix CD's for specific purposes, nabbing rares and hard to find songs, those kind of things I'm entirely behind. Full scale burning of a dozen CDs that you can run out and purchase from your local CD store for ten to twenty bucks each. I mean, look at all the various excuses.... like poverty, information wanting to be free, or various other rationalizations. There's some songs I have that I don't legally own. There's a game or two I have a copy of that I don't legally own. I'm no angel... but I still don't think it's right.

Sometimes I love finding things like this online.

A bit of a back story.

    Snog, The Prole Song

Oh yeah, normal stuff

I forgot. Other things happened this weekend.

Anyway, I went to Hoboken with Chris, Aaron, Pete, and my sweetie. We had a blast! From the reasonably priced Italian feast to the bar to the many conversations between the odd pairings of friend's friends, it was a great night. It started out scarily enough, with my sweetie seeing funnel clouds attempting to touch down near 287 and me dodging double-parked cars and skidding busses through downtown Hackensack with a crappy windshield and equally crappy wiper blades. Eeeek!

The night ended poorly though, I picked a fight with my sweetheart when she tried to help me clean out my car for Chris and Pete, so I could give them rides home. I lost it. The next day was an odd day at my weekend job, spending most of the day CLEANING the back room. I found packing labels from product not shipped to us in years. Damn what a mess. Now if only I can finish the cleaning I started giving to my room last night.

And on the home front, my roomie and I have talked. We're both being blunt and open and talking and shit. Yay.

A Lesson is Learned But The Damage Is Ir

But do I get to run a club on Deva?

ogun told me today on CS that I remind him Skeeve, the main character from Robert Asprin's Myth series. This is odd.

Robert Asprin used to be on a first-name basis with my mother's baby brother. My uncle was a regular con attendee, and was the maker of the first known modern suit of chainmail. Hell, he got married at a con. An engineer heavily involved with a variety of sci-fi/fantasy gigs, he ended up getting to see Asprin on a regular basis. My mom and first stepfather therefore got plenty of signed copies sent their way, until a falling out between the author and my uncle. So I saw the books lying around all the time, and one bored summer in middle school, I decided to read them all. So I read every single one of them that was out by that point. It was the gap between Myth-Nomers and Im-Pervections and Sweet Myth-Tery of Life. Absolutely loved them. Wrote up GURPS rules for all the races, their spell system, and even wrote some modules for it. Yes, I was such a pencil and paper geek child.

Anyway, around that time, my mother told me that I reminded her of Skeeve.... but for very different reasons. Ogun's reminder is well... he gave me permission to use his words:

...you remind me of Skeeve from teh last book I ever read. You really want everyone to like you, and it bothers you on a very fundamental level when they don't. You seem to jump if you can to try to really link with the friendships....
...near the end of the series he was having all sorts of interpersonal problems because he didn't know how to deal with people not liking him- that's what your post strongly reminded me of....

With my mother it was my pseudo-leadership and people skills. Or maybe she saw what Ogun saw but was being nice. Who knows. *shrug*
