TRAGEDY - Clerks 2 vs Snakes on a Plane
This is horrible.

Clerks 2 comes out the same day as Snakes on a Plane. mrfantasy just pointed this out to me.

My immortal soul is torn between these two forces.

Sure, we all know SOaP will be the next RHPS, and I've got people I've promised to see it with opening night in NYC. But Kevin Smith! Fuck, I even loved Jersey Girl! He could spread his latest bowel movement on the silver screen and I'd rave about the hue and texture! So what if he's moved out of Jersey?

This will only end in heartbreak and disaster.

Current Location: 36 Madison Ave, Madison, NJ

Re: Clerks 2?

Watch the trailers.

Besides, didn't you pay attention to the credits in Dogma?

The ending of Clerks read: "Jay and Silent Bob will return in "Dogma"" (he realized he didn't have the budget to do it his way yet, and put it off)
The ending of Mallrats read: "Jay and Silent Bob will return in Chasing Amy" (right, for once)
The ending of Chasing Amy read: "Jay and Silent Bob will return in Dogma (we promise)" (heh)
The ending of Dogma read: "Jay and Silent Bob will return in "Clerks 2: Hardly Clerkin'"" (which is finally coming to pass)
The ending of JASBSB read: "Jay and Silent Bob have left the building." followed by a Snoogans sound byte (which means it was a joke)

So as you see, this all has been prophesied before.

Re: Clerks 2?

Can't watch audio in a work cubicle, I fear. I'll have to do that later. My knee-jerk reaction is due to the idea of sequels in general, and I really never could envision an add-on to Dante and Randall's original adventure.

Re: Clerks 2?

See, but it's a tale of slackers reaching adulthood. It has potential. Really. Watch the trailers.

Dude, as a Jerseyite from 1998 to 2002 I hate to say it, but Kevin Smith is gonna get his ass handed to him at the Box Office come August 18.

I don't think that matters to Kevin because he pretty much conceded that fact when he said over a year ago that he was going to have Clerks 2 released in about a 1000 theaters. Now, for a film like Clerks 2, that might be a good move, but it's very rare this day and age that a thousand theater film can take the weekend crown in the month of August.

Considering how the last few missives from the master went over, I'm curious to see how this one does when set loose.

No doubt, it very well might be a make or break for him from the industry's perspective (as it will for me)...He still hasn't crossed 30-mil at the box office which isn't very impressive for some with a "name" as big as his.

His only saving grace is DVD sales, which has kept him afloat for some time...

I wish I could take credit for that line, but I was far from the first person to utter that proclaimation. RHPS drama queens, good friends of mine, and internet nutjobs have all made that bold statement. Some friends of mine plan on bringing gummi and rubber snakes to the opening night, and playing it up as much as possible.

Let's see how powerful that internet buzz can be. It worked for the Blair Witch Project, and that was ages ago internet time.

This will only end in heartbreak and disaster.

Or, in a hilarious season four farce!
