Poll #589043 Explain, you iconoclasts.

What does this mean?

This morning I had to caulk my car and ford my way across some rivers. I knew the_boke was an island, but didn't realize how little land there used to be until I saw a map at the last festival from the historical society. When it seriously rains, it becomes an island again.

Tonight, small burger and big beer night. Good times.

Dinged 60 in WoW, so I can return to the land of the living. How have you all been?

Feeling: gloomy gloomy
Listening to: Bruce Dickinson, Jerusalem

How have you all been?

I know that's not necessarily directed at me, but I can contribute with the tale that I have a stalker.

He called me 20 times in 4 days. No, he's not a creditor.

You have a stalker?

How'd that happen?
bzoppa From: bzoppa Date: October 13th, 2005 01:47 pm (UTC) (Hard link)
I never posted about it, mostly because I wasn't really sure what to say. I had a fling last week, which was fantastic for my ego, but the guy kind of went overboard afterwards. He finally stopped calling after he asked me if he'd worn out his welcome and I said yes. Luckily he lives in North Carolina and not here. He was in D.C. for a conference.

Is he at least a debitor?

That's really creepy.

And I'm saying that as a reformed stalker.

No, really, I used to be a stalker.

What is that icon?

I don't know if he was a stalker so much as really into me. Luckily, as I told graye, he lives in North Carolina and not here. Otherwise I'd be more worried.

kingfox called me 20 times in 4 days, too! From behind your house/apartment/alternative dwelling!

I met the sweetest guy. We're engaged! Can you believe it? We should make plans for dinner some time and catch up.

BURN
kingfox From: kingfox Date: October 13th, 2005 03:33 am (UTC) (Hard link)
Indeed.

Of course, I bet that guy doesn't have a LEVEL 60 undead warlock or nothin'.

And here, I thought all this time you had my well-being at heart.

shame!

Awww, that's awesome

Between dinner with me two nights ago, dinner with me last night, and dinner with me tonight, how did you find the time? Where do the commas belong in the preceding sentence?
jenniever From: jenniever Date: October 13th, 2005 03:42 am (UTC) (Hard link)

Re: Awww, that's awesome

Although some do, I almost never put a comma in front of an and. Unless it's a list, like "I like conjunctions like but, and, or or." Other than that, your comma placement was fine.

Of course, I josh. One of my most lovable qualities is my ability to quickly make light of the previously most dire, relationship-threatening situations.

It was an Island???

I love Black Bear. But we about never go because Trey can't get in unless the bouncer is feeling kind and generous.

the_boke was an island. Not much of one, since it was only a river and a stretch of swampland that divided it and Jersey City, but still. At some point in the late 19th/early 20th century (I forget the date on the map), the block I live on only had a few buildings, and had nothing but swamp behind it. A plank walk, consisting of planks laid onto the wetlands, allowed access to areas further west. The hill Stevens was on was the major solid land, and party destination for Manhattanites.

bornofdivinity used to hang out at the Black Bear all the time. The fact that it gets a long line Friday and Saturday nights amuses me to no end. Tonight I won a shirt at beer, burgers, and bingo night. While the music's not bad, the crowd's kind of old when it's packed. Those were a series of random thoughts. I've had two 25 oz mugs of beer.

Huh. Wacky.

I know that Jersey City Heights used to be the nicest place to live around here, and that walking down into Hoboken was the thing to do back then. I wonder how all those ladies in hoop skirts walked across that bunch of planks.

Jerusalem is one hell of a song...i mean honestly are you kidding me?
kingfox From: kingfox Date: October 13th, 2005 05:50 pm (UTC) (Hard link)
I love Accident of Birth. It came out at a perfect time, it was an amazing album, and it restored all of my faith in Bruce after Skunkworks. As he put it, it was more Maiden than what Maiden was doing at the time.

When I first heard Chemical Wedding, I thought it was another poor followup to a decent album. It just didn't resonate with me, and while the playing seemed great at times, really wore thin on me pretty quickly. Years later, listening to Bruce's greatest hits double CD, a few tracks from the album really grabbed my attention. For years I had been reading online reviews and comments insisting that Chemical Wedding was even better than Accident of Birth, and I thought they were all on crack. But returning to it recently, it's really grown on me.

Maybe it's my love of Milton that caused me to come around, but Jerusalem's one of my favorite tracks off of the album.

i loved accident of birth at well but i felt there were 2-3 songs on there that were kind of filler...

meanwhile when CW came out i liked almost every song and i liked how the production went a bit away from the more 80's/maiden sound into heavier without turning into one of those stupid wannabe modern albums from an older band...

his new one is pretty good eh? i listened quite a bit though then dropped off right away....i don't think it's as good as the other two but still i appreicate hearing him rather than listening to maiden and sitting through 9 minute long steve harris over-indulgence like no more lies....blah.

sorry I didn't come out. Wednesday is once again gaming night, and I drove all over creation to get my parents to the airport during the day.

also, the Black Bear sounds like a minority niche gay bar.

hey

Are Bruce Dickinson and Janice Dickinson twins?

(i know they totally are)
