Attention Canucks!
Dear graye, spicyeggplant, malahat, and crew,

Like, what should I bring?

Obviously I should grab some toiletries (plenty of contacts this time unlike wideathtrip), camping supplies, and clothing. What's the dress code for the time spent there? I want to hit one of the ``finest sushi in the world'' joints, and otherwise see what the area has to offer. Barring any crazy place like the Safehouse where I should dress in a particular way, what's the norm? Camping, obviously, I can dress down for.

What else should I bring along?

jenniever, what's the dress code for our side of the border? I know you've got relatives and friends and all these random people we're staying with/visiting/whatever. Will they drag us out to black-tie affairs? Should I bring my shiny fancy proper shoes at all? What's the dress code for the Microsoft campus? I think one of my suits needs dry cleaned.

Is there anything from this location, the center of the universe, that people might want exported by hand? Bagels and pork roll won't make it to Vancouver, much less Victoria.

BE SURE TO BRING ANTI-FUNGAL MEDICATION.

Couldn't I take a culture from your hat and cultivate some sort of penicillin with it?

Yeah, I don't think we're going anywhere too dressy. Fuck, man, most of the time we're going to be camping.

For camping, be sure to bring comfortable clothes, suitable for drinking.

As for shit like finest sushi in the world joints, best I can recommend is dressy/casual.

Goddamn it, now I have to think about this. I'm relying on infraredelf to pin down a sushi joint, because I don't know whats up with that stuff. She has a good place in mind, though. How dressy is it? No clue.

Normally I just wear burlap and dress in rags.

Drinking clothing? Ok.

Band shirts and shorts it is!

I propose all LJ trips made by any member of the collective us should be posted about and coordinated through the Wisconsin Death Trip community.

We might want to spend the $15 and rename it to LJDEATHTRIP or something generic like that.

Unless you really want British Columbia compared to Wisconsin.

Bring a flamethrower, to burninate all them Commie Canucks, "Canuckies" if you will. This will also ensure ample warmth and food supply as all Canadians are made from delicious sausages.

Visiting Microsoft campus? That's pretty cool. :) I've wanted to go there for years. You'll have to proffer a full report of amenities, atmosphere and how hard Gates laughs upon mention of Longhorn.

It's been a dream of mine for a while to see the campus, and supposedly we'll be able to get a fairly in-depth tour.

I think just casual clothes will be fine. I'm going to pack one nice outfit and have everything else range from hiking to hanging out clothes.

The people we are visiting are the people who taught me how to survive on a river for three days without ever seeing civilisation. They only thing they will require of you is a sturdy pair of boots and a swimsuit. And your sense of humour.

I purchased a sleeping bag for you because I didn't have a second. I hope that's ok. It should come today or tomorrow. You can take a look.

Also: Tonight I'd like to make an appointment with you to make packing lists, go over luggage, set up my tent, review the itinerary and google at finances.

Ok, I'll have to find my sense of humor and make sure I pack it.

Other than watching two episodes of Deep Space 9, I'm free tonight.

birkenstocks and sushi

You will, of course, be required to wear birkenstocks with wool socks the entire length of your stay. Anything else would be incredibly offensive to the locals. graye has a lovely pair of half-clogs to go with his cargo shorts and wool sweater. Bring something wool or windproof for camping.

Victoria is exceedingly casual for dress. The sushi joint I was thinking of is a bit on the shabby side, but makes what seems to be some of the best sushi in town at a decent price. And they have a Chirashi bowl on the menu, which I believe I've heard you go on about before.

Re: birkenstocks and sushi

*whew* I thought I was going to have to wear suspenders and hats with those little ear flaps the whole time.

Sounds like I'll be sticking to my usual slacks/shorts/t-shirts while up there. For camping, I was planning on bringing a light windbreaker and my thick trenchcoat with zip-out lining.

And yes, thank you, I'm a huge fan of Chirashi. Chirashi and all you can eat joints make kingfox a happy camper. I'm looking forward to it.

Re: hey

It was great seeing you as well, and I can understand regarding graduation. It's a bit of a hike, but I kept an eye out for you.

Things are well with me, if a bit busy at times.

jenniever says hi as well.
